Online Activities

We have organised a number of regular online activities for you to get involved with:

Ideas Hour with Michal
Do you have an idea that could benefit the community, and would like to see how you can bring it to life? Maybe you have a unique skill, exceptional knowledge or simply a passion for making a lasting change for local people.

Mondays, 3pm to 4pm

Email michal@wtbiglocal.org.uk or call 07903 390649 to book a space in this session.

Wormley and Turnford Employment Advice Clinic
Provided by the Community Voluntary Service for Broxbourne and East Herts, WTBL are running free 1:1 telephone appointments during which you can discuss any employment issues. Whether you are looking to change career, have concerns about furloughing or are looking to enter employment for the first time, speak to Michelle in confidence.

Call 07903 390649 to request an appointment.

English Conversation Classes
English conversation classes are the ideal opportunity to practice language with other learners or native speakers. Great for building confidence and more fluid than lessons, vocabulary is broadened naturally, encompassing some of the everyday nuances of they way we speak.

Call 07903 390649 to book a free session.

Community Garden
The two community plots at Church Lane have been transformed over the last couple of months. Those involved with the group have been able to put more time in than ever during lockdown, with social distancing strictly observed.

Plot 2 was taken on in the Autumn and hadn’t been maintained for many years. It’s now been cleared, dug, and almost fully planted with potatoes, pumpkins, peas, lettuces, radishes, carrots, beetroots, onions and garlic. Tomatoes, beans, courgettes and cucumbers will be ready to go in after any danger of frost.

Plot 21 has been filled with fruit bushes including raspberries, black currants and gooseberries. It also has strawberries, rhubarb, artichokes, herbs and buckwheat with space for many more plants.

The group are hoping to buy a large netted cage to protect the fruit from squirrels and birds. There are also plans to put up a shed at Plot 2 in the coming months.

During lockdown it is difficult to introduce anyone new to the project but as soon as restrictions are lifted those wishing to get involved will be most welcome. If you are interested, please contact WTBL.
