Wormley and Turnford Big Lunch
The Big Lunch is an annual, nationwide initiative whose main aim is to bring neighbours together. This year, 2018, Wormley and Turnford's Big Lunch was held at Wormley Community Centre for the first time.
Our huge efforts paid off! Wormley and Turnford Annual Big Lunch event was a great success. More than 150 residents had a lovely opportunity to participate in many activities which brought together the local community.
Those who came along to the Wormley Community Centre enjoyed a rich variety of games, entertainment and sports challenges. Attendees had plenty to do! Steel drum performance, live music, bouncy castle and delicious BBQ helped to make the day really special. Our Big Lunch Event was organised by Wormley and Turnford Big Local, national initiative which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. This project is about transforming the local community and changing people’s lives. We hope that our Big Lunch Event is one of many exciting events which will be delivered in the area in the future.
“It was good to see the community centre fulfilling its role as the heart of a creative coming together of people of all ages from our community to have some fun and enjoy each other's company"
Noelle Blackman, Chair of Wormley and Turnford Big Local
“I was delighted that I was able to join our Big Lunch Event. Lovely weather, plenty of activities and real ‘community buzz’ made our Sunday afternoon really special! Our initiative brought successfully together the local community, helped to raise the profile of the area, provided fantastic networking opportunity but most importantly, put a lot of smiles on so many faces! For me personally this event demonstrated a real drive, passion and commitment from residents and other local partners which can only help us to make a real difference in the area!"
